The people - Karen Laing

Karen has been a dental nurse here for years and knows everybody.

Karen is known as our 'Queen of Clean' because she is a little bit obsessed with cleaning. One of her favourite pastimes is hoovering and she has even been known to hoover her own ears! Consequently she is the perfect person in the practice to be our Infection Control Supervisor.

Karen lives with partner Chris and 3 sons. She also has a menagerie of animals – dogs, ferrets, snakes and snails all of which keep her very busy.

We love Karen for her stories. She is a constant source of entertainment and the best person ever on a staff night out!

What do you enjoy most about being a Dental Nurse?

Seeing our patients again and again and finding out about their lives. I've got to know so many lovely people over the years I have been here.

What are you best at?

Talking! Helping patients to feel relaxed and comfortable and of course cleaning.

What do you do in your spare time?

I love long country walks, being a busy mum and listening to music.

What would you be if you weren't a dental nurse?

Something that combines looking after people with my ability to talk! I think I would make a good hospital porter or a care worker for people with special needs.
