Lynda
Allman BDS Lynda is the principal
dentist and clinical director of the practice. Originally from Northern
Ireland, she qualified in 1987 from the University of Edinburgh. After
spending two years gaining valuable experience within hospital dentistry
in Edinburgh and Newcastle, she entered general practice.
A move to York in 1993 led to marrying a Yorkshireman and putting down roots! Lynda took over Acomb Dental Practice in 1997. The practice has grown steadily and she has been joined by 5 colleagues over the years.
Lynda is enthusiastic about all aspects of dentistry and regularly attends post-graduate courses to keep her knowledge up to date. She has a special interest in periodontology and modern cosmetic techniques.
Helen Forrest BDS Helen graduated from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1995 and spent two years working in Richmond and Darlington before joining the practice as an associate two years later.
Sarah
Miller BDS Sarah graduated from Manchester University
in 1998 and has worked in North Yorkshire ever since. She has been an
associate dentist at the practice since 1999. Sarah has a wonderful rapport
with children and is very popular with our young patients in particular.
Sarah enjoys all aspects of dental practice and preventive dentistry in
particular.
Carolyn Rickleton BDS MFGDP(UK) Dip Dental Concious Sedation(Hons). We were delighted to welcome Carolyn to Acomb Dental Practice in 2003. She brings with her enthusiasm and a wealth of experience gained from working both in General Pracice and Community Dental Services. A graduate of Newcastle University in 1978, Carolyn has acheived Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practitioners in 1997.
Carolyn has developed a special interest in treating patients who are anxious or phobic about dental treatment. In 2001 she completed a postgraduate diploma in the management of dental phobia, anxiety and dental conscious sedation. A significant part of Carolyn's time at the practice is now dedicated to helping dentally anxious patients.
In addition to her work at the practice, Carolyn is involved in dental nurse training and is a past Dental Adviser to The Department of Health Studies at the University of York.Jay Kindelan Consultant Orthodontist, Specialist in Orthodontics BChD (Hons), FDS (Orth) RCS, M Orth RCS, M Med Sci (Orth). Mr Kindelan is Consultant Orthodontist for York and Harrogate Hospitals and has his private practice, 'Orthodontic Excellence' based at Acomb Dental Practice taking referrals from general and specialist practitioners throughout the region.
Mr Kindelan qualified from Leeds University Dental School with honours in 1985 and continued in junior hospital positions within Orthodontics, Restorative Dentistry and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He then spent three years working in general dental practice in West Yorkshire.
He trained as an Orthodontic Registrar in Nottingham and Sheffield and as a Senior Registrar in York and Leeds completing in 1998 when he took up his Consultant position.
Mr Kindelan's aim is to provide the very best quality of orthodontic care for his patients and their families.
Our Hygienists
Our hygienist and therapist are key members of our team, working closely with the dentists in the prevention and treatment of dental disease for both adults and children.
Greta
Compton EDH Greta has been involved with the dental profession
for 20 years.
Initially qualifying as a dental nurse, she went on to obtain certifactes in oral health education and dental radiography.
From 2000 - 2002 she fulfilled a long-held ambition by becoming a full-time student and was awarded the diploma in Dental Hygiene at Leeds Dental Institute.
Greta joined us at Acomb Dental Practice upon qualification and is an enthusiastic member of the team, contibuting to both general patient care and to promoting oral health education.
She lives in Leeds with her partner Paul and enjoys painting, running and caring for Millie her golden retriever, who is one of the very few dogs who can claim her own electric toothbrush.
Sarah
Thirkell EDH Dip Dental Therapy Sarah joined us at Acomb Dental
Practice in August 2005 shortly after completing her 3 year Dental Therapist
training, following on from a background in Dental Nursing.
Sarah is qualified to carry out many of the routine dental care procedures such as hygiene treatment, fillings, childrens routine and preventive treatment under instruction of the dentist.
Since her arrival Sarah has worked hard at developing her role in the practice to include children's dentistry and oral health education. A lively member of our team, Sarah has proved to be a big hit with the children at our practice who know her as 'The Pink Lady'!
Practice Manager
Maureen Flood Maureen's background is in dental nursing and she has worked within the dental profession for over twenty years. Trained in dental nursing, dental radiography and oral health education, she has also been involved with training at Leeds Dental Institute.
Since joining us as Practice Manager in 2000, Maureen has made quality assurance and customer care a priority and has been the driving force behind our Investor in People and BDA Good Practice acheivements.
Maureen's role is to look after the day to day smooth running of the practice and ensure our patients have the best possible experience of our services.
