Why chose a Dentist for these Cosmetic Treatments?
It is common now for patients to trust their dentist to provide non-surgical facial treatments. Dentists have the perfect skills for this type of cosmetic work. We have a high level of knowledge of facial anatomy and we are used to looking at faces to observe symmetry and create aesthetically pleasing smiles. Giving precise injections is part of our daily routine and we have the added advantage that we are also able to use local anaesthesia for some of the more sensitive areas of the face to ensure your treatment is always comfortable. With facial aesthetics, as with our dentistry, your safety is our paramount concern. You can be assured that our training and standards meet our strict professional guidelines.
Dr Lynda Allman (GDC no: 62237) has been trained in facial aesthetic techniques since 2007 and will be happy to meet you and discuss your requirements.
Before any treatment is undertaken you will have a full consultation with Lynda during which you will be given full information about the options available to achieve the results you desire. You will receive an estimate of costs and a full explanation of any potential risks, pre-treatment and aftercare instructions. Your consultation is for advice and information. We understand that it is important to be given adequate time to consider your options and ask any questions that you may have.
Wrinkle Relaxing Injections
Crease lines and wrinkles such as crow's feet and frown lines are a natural maturing process caused by a combination of aging, sun damage and the normal movement of facial muscles during facial expression.
We use wrinkle-relaxing injections to treat these kinds of lines. The injections work by relaxing tiny facial muscles which create expression lines. This means the muscles no longer contract so that the overlying skin stays smooth and crease-free. The result is a more serene and youthful look.
This treatment has been safely used cosmetically worldwide for more than 10 years and has also been used to treat certain medical conditions in the UK for over 20 years.
The procedure is simple and straightforward. Injections are made using a very fine needle into precise locations. Our training enables us to inject specific muscles in a very controlled way, minimising any loss of facial expression, to give a natural rejuvenated appearance.
This treatment can also be used in facial re-shaping – for example lifting the eyebrow or correcting asymmetrical facial features. It is not effective for static lines which do not disappear when the skin is stretched out. It cannot correct fine lines caused by the sun or natural age-related skin sag. Very heavy lines may need more than one treatment
How long will it last?
Wrinkle relaxing treatments generally take 5-10 days to work. 2-3 weeks after your initial treatment, you will have a follow-up appointment to make sure that you are happy with the results.Wrinkle relaxation is a non-permanent treatment with the effect lasting between 3-4 months. To prolong the benefits, repeat injections are recommended. If you have repeat treatments you will find that lines and wrinkles become less deep and over time you may be able to leave longer intervals between treatments.
Soft Tissue Enhancements
Fillers can be used to plump out lines on your face, restoring volume to give a smoother, softer, fresher and more youthful appearance. They can be used for lines and wrinkles around the mouth, forehead, nose and eyes. The latest injectables can be used to enhance natural features such as lips to give them more volume and define the lip line. Even a small lip enhancement can help to create a softer and more more youthful smile.
Juvederm is a filler consisting of hyaluronic acid based sterile gel, identical to naturally occurring substances in the body and is completely safe. Hyaluronic acid fillers require no allergy testing prior to their use. These type of fillers are naturally biodegradable and the effect lasts typically 6-9 months. They are therefore non-permanent and will require topping up when you see the effect diminishing, anytime between 6 and 12 months.
