A veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material that is applied to the front of a tooth to make it look better. They can vastly improve the appearance of damaged, misshapen or discoloured teeth. In some cases they can be used to make crooked teeth appear straighter and they can improve the appearance of gaps.
Veneers are usually made out of porcelain in a dental laboratory and bonded to the tooth with a very strong adhesive. This teatment requires some tooth preparation and impressions of the teeth are required.
What are the benefits?
- Veneers can greatly improve your appearance, hiding imperfections and giving an extremely natural appearance.
- Veneers can also protect teeth from further damage due to abrasion and erosion from dietary acids.
